Yucca gloriosa common name is Spanish dagger also known as Roman Candle. This is an ornamental flowering plant and native to the southern USA, from North Carolina to Florida.
Y. gloriosa is an evergreen shrub plant. The plant is known to grow to heights above 5 m (16 feet). The long narrow leaves are straight and very stiff, growing to 30–50 cm (12–20 in) long and 2 - 3.5 cm wide. They are dark green with entire margins, smooth, rarely finely denticulate, acuminate, with a sharp brown terminal spine. It blooms white flowers in mid summer. The fruit is up to 10cm long and 26mm wide. People eat its fruits, flowers and roots. The plant is widely cultivated in temperate and subtropical climates.
