The Bird's nest fern or Asplenium nidus, is a native to tropical southeastern Asia, eastern Australia, Hawaii and eastern Africa. It has large green simple fronds that are visually similar to banana leaves, with the fronds growing to 20 – 60 inches (50-150 cm) long and 3 – 8 inches (10-20 cm) broad. It loves the shade and is found nesting on trees, where the wind blows their spores to. The Bird’s nest fern reproduces from spores that are under the fronds that create V-shaped brown patterns. People do plant them on their garden’s trees and in pots.
